HENRY WURST, INC. TO CEASE OPERATIONS AT APEX PRINT MANUFACTURING FACILITY

Henry Wurst, Inc. [HWI] announced on October 17th stated that it will be closing its Apex, North Carolina facility and moving production to the larger home-office facility in Kansas City. Production at the Apex plant, which produces printed materials, will substantially end by December 16, 2011. As a result, HWI will reduce its workforce by approximately 55 employees, primarily composed of manufacturing personnel and support staff.

The company will continue to operate for 60 days to transition accounts to its Kansas City facility, to find local production support for some clients and to provide work for employees while they seek other employment.

“It was a very difficult decision to close this facility and certainly not a reflection on the excellent employees we have here,” said Mark Hanf, President of Henry Wurst, Inc. He continued, “Our workforce in Apex is a highly skilled and dedicated group of professionals that has contributed significantly to our operational success over the years. However, over the last few years this location along with producing work for local companies was an overflow facility for our Kansas City operation and the recent market conditions have made competing in this geographic area no longer viable.”

Affected employees who continue to work for the company during the shut-down process will be guaranteed full work weeks throughout the 60 days plus severance pay and continuation of benefits.
