KC & DFW Members Briefed on Legislative Threats

Lisbeth Lyons,PIA/GATF’s Vice President of Government Affairs, recently spoke before members of our Kansas City and Dallas/Ft Worth chapters.

In Kansas City, Lisbeth provided a detailed analysis on the threat of “Do Not Mail” legislation that has been introduced in Missouri and other states.   Although it is doubtful that any of the bills will pass, this growing movement indicates a need for printers to better inform the public and government officials of the scope and importance of the direct mail industry, not to mention the integral role of the universal mail service.

VP of Government Affairs, PIA/GATF

In Dallas, Lisbeth addressed the DFW CEO Roundtable and provided an excellent summary on the 110th Congress and its impact on printing businesses, especially given the Democratic majority in both chambers.  Key issues include: minimum wage, health care, immigration, and a proposal to do away with secret balloting in union elections.  She stressed the value of owners using our national website to stay current on the latest issues and to efficiently contact elected leaders using our Legislative Action Center.
